Horrific Bus Inferno Kills 25 Trapped Passengers – Pictures & Video
This gallery and video show the horrifying scenes of Friday morning when an overcrowded commuter bus in the city of Chengdu, capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province, turned into a fireball with many passengers trapped inside.
25 people were burnt alive with around 78 others injured, of whom 11 are reported as serious and five in a critical condition.
The bus was air conditioned so only the windows at the rear could be opened by hand. Passers-by smashed the windows from the outside to help free those trapped in what becomes an inferno.
Eye witness reports say the driver refused to stop the bus after other motorists warned him of smoke coming from the back of the bus. He continued driving for another five minutes before bringing the smoking bus to a halt on the busy highway.
What followed was captured on camera by passing commuters. I have placed the scenes of the wounded on the second page giving you the option to view at your own discretion as they are extremely graphic.
