Hebron Riots

Police and soldiers fired tear gas and rubber bullets during clashes between Palestinians and the Israeli military in the West Bank city of Hebron last month.

Palestinians in Hebron took to the streets in protest following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement that the Cave of Patriarchs in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb in nearby Bethlehem to its list of national heritage sites.

Several pictures also show Israeli troops during clashes with stone throwers in the village of Nabi Saleh, near Ramallah, following a protest last month against the expansion of the nearby Israeli settlement of Halamish.

Israel’s continued expansion of settlements is one of the biggest obstacles to the resumption of peace talks with the Palestinians, now suspended for more than a year.
