First It Was Smoking, Now Pubs Are Banning Mobile Phones

If banning smoking didn’t damage the pub trade enough, now some landlords are telling customers they need to go outside to use their mobiles because it ‘antisocial’.
The Court Inn in Durham, England is one such watering hole that orders patrons outside if they want to make or take a call.
Landlord Harry Walker brought in the rule after getting fed up with the racket from customers talking on their mobiles.
‘It makes for a very anti-social atmosphere when people use their phones,’ he said.
Even the pub website boasts they are “a mobile phone free zone”.
Harry sounds like a right happy chappy and made me think of the pub landlord Arthur Pringle from series two of the Brit comedy Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
