Two trains have collided during the morning commute in Belgium. Early reports suggest at least 10 and up to 20 people have been killed.

The collision happened at Halle, south west of Brussels, at around 0830 local time.

Television reports showed that the force of the collision pushed the first car of each train up off the tracks. The cars ended up resting against each other and power lines were brought down.

Local media reported some victims were hospitalised and others were treated at a nearby sports centre.

A third train was derailed and local train services in and out of Brussels were disrupted.
