In Pictures: Britain Hit By Storms

It was the biggest storm of the year, ripping off roofs, causing widespread flooding.
From late Friday night and throughout Saturday the country was hit by heavy rain, lightning strikes and winds of up to 100mph
In one of the most serious incidents, about 60 homes were damaged when a tornado swept through Benfleet in Essex, lifting roofs and damaging cars.
The last time such powerful gales struck Britain was in January 2005 when 106mph gusts were recorded on Barra in the Outer Hebrides, according to the Met Office.
Here’s a dozen scenes from across the country yesterday including one one in swimming trucks who decided the waves were too big for swimming!!!
