Could You Say No And Miss The Big Match?

Heineken

To remind men how important it is to watch the match with your friends, Heineken organized a fake poetry-reading and classical music event at the same time as the UEFA Champions League game between Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Girlfriends, bosses and university professors were on the payroll to ‘encourage’ their boyfriends, workers and students to attend the event and miss the big game.

1136 victims in total were snagged – yes 1136 men with no balls – opted to attend the event instead of joining their buddies to watch the match and sink a few beers.

Hidden cameras captured events as they unfolded of these gutless men saying they will attend, too scared to say no and shuffling into the concert hall with long faces.

The violins kicked in and the calligraphy appeared over the projector and the faces in the crowd are priceless. Complete misery is an understatement.

15 excruciating minutes later, the words “Hard to say no to your boss, isn’t it? …To your girlfriend? … And to the match?” appeared on the screen as the audience started to realise they had been conned.

The violins kick into the familiar sound of the Champions League theme as the screen displays the message, “Lets enjoy the match together”, followed by a Heineken logo before going live to the game for kick-off.

The fallout was broadcast in Italy and watched by 1.5 million people. I’m sure there were plenty of guys watching it saying it would never happen to me – would you have the balls to say no?
